Cable Selector Guide

Select the connection type of your Source device and the connection type of your Display. The corresponding connector pictures will appear so you can verify your choice, and the recommended cable or adapter will be shown automatically below. Some situations will be more complex than others, particularly those connections which involve interfacing between analog and digital video. These connections are possible, although not recommended due to the cost of digital-to-analog and analog-to-digital converters. More often than not, simply replacing the analog device with a digital one will give you a higher quality result for a similar (or cheaper) price.

Direction matters. Many adapters only work one way round. A passive DisplayPort-to-HDMI adapter, for example, will not carry a signal backwards from an HDMI source into a DisplayPort display — that needs a powered active converter. Set the Source and Display boxes to match your actual signal path.
